“ sat at the bar. quick service for the cold dishes like sushi rolls. great happy hour deals my tummy hurts from udon carbonara but it was so good ”
“ Food: Sushi was tasty and fresh, the crudo we shared as an app was just okay, garlic fried rice with tenderloin tips was tasty but super garlicky. Had the Kobe passionfire cocktail, which was delicious. Ambiance: arrived early when the restaurant was relatively empty, it filled up quickly. If you're sensitive to noise, it got quite loud. Service: our server was friendly but disappeared for long periods of time when we wanted to ask for dessert, another drink, and the check. ”
“ Food: Everything we tried was absolutely amazing! Udon carbonara has a great texture and flavor, Sashimi was fresh and tasty, Wagyu Roast Beef Salad was divine - especially the dressing! Yum! Service: Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive staff through the entire time! :) The restaurant is on the second floor of the building - steps to get to your host. ;) Parking might be a challenge around this area; however, I'd definitely go back to try other items on the menu! ”
“ I visited for the first time while they were offering the 40th anniversary special menu and it was phenomenal! Off of that special menu, I ordered the fatty tuna with uni, wagyu donburi, and miso cookies. Sometimes pre fixe menus leave you wanting, but this was more than enough food. In addition to the menu, I also split an udon carbonara which is a dish I would definitely go back for again. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the 20th century cocktail, but my friend loved it so I think it's a matter of preference. Looking forward to coming back! ”
“ Just two large wooden doors mark the entrance with teeny tiny writing on the bottom of one - we seriously walked past it several times! Maybe the "P" shaped door handles should have tipped me off? The dining room is small - it is a tight space that they cram a good number of tables into, which means it is on the louder side, but we didn't need to shout to be heard across the table so all's good If I would have had the wagyu burger, I would have given 4 stars - my fellow diners said it was good but average. But... I say, this is a Japanese Sushi place, you picked wrong! lol - for $100 buckaroos - 20 pieces of high quality, expertly prepared sashimi is a steal and it was quite good! I will call out the fresh, creamy, delicate uni which was superb -- I have had stinky, fishy uni at a few other high end restaurants in DC that was simply not good (not going to name names here, but message me and I will ) -- so this tells me the chef know what they are doing! Also - I have to call out my ice cream sandwich dessert, which was a little kiss from heaven! Lately I have had too rich, too large or just too complicated desserts at places and this was none of those (definitely not too large - I ate 3). The creamy ice cream paired well with the sweetened, airy whipped cream and with the crunch of the shell, the tiny hint of mint and the acid from the slice of strawberry - it was perfection in 2-3 bites, which is really all you need after appetizers and a dinner ... well maybe you need triple that when it's this good!!! ”
“ Great food and great service from the hostess Sophie to the service by Hu . Great atmosphere and perfect for a date of friends gathering love it!!!! ”
“ If you're searching for a dining experience that blends innovation with authenticity, Perry's is an absolute gem. My favorite is their Udon Carbonara and Chirashi Donburi, both dishes always hits the spot! The Udon Carbonara is a game-changer. The thick, chewy udon noodles--perfectly cooked--were tossed in a creamy, rich sauce that expertly balances the indulgence of classic carbonara with a fresh, subtle Japanese twist. This dish features a beautifully seasoned broth that mingles with smoky pancetta, adding a savory depth that takes the comfort food to the next level. The egg yolk on top, gently breaking into the noodles, creates a luscious, silky texture that coats each bite. It's a fusion dish that feels both familiar and wonderfully new, a must-try for any foodie-- it's so good, we keep coming back just for this dish! The Chirashi Donburi is also an absolute must. Served with an assortment of the freshest, highest-quality sashimi, this bowl is a masterpiece. Each bite was a harmonious balance of delicate, melt-in-your-mouth fish and subtly seasoned rice. What really sets this dish apart, though, is the careful attention to detail--every element on the bowl, from the pickled cucumber to the pickled ginger, felt thoughtfully placed to create a symphony of flavors and textures. ”
“ We slept on Perry's for the last decade until Tom Sietsema and Washingtonian's top 100 list brought this restaurant to our attention. Husband picked Perry's for his birthday dinner, since he loves sushi, but fortunately for me (no, I do not like sushi), there were plenty of dishes other than sushi, and they were delicious. We came here for dinner on a Monday, and had no problem scoring a reservation a couple days before. The restaurant was not full through the night, but it had a good number of patrons. Of course, street parking was abysmal, this being the city. There were many sushi and non-sushi dishes on the menu, which made it hard to decide what to order. By the way, they do have a specials menu, giving us more options! I decided to go for several dishes (thinking that leftovers were possible)- edamame dumplings, chicken kaarage, udon carbonara, and the chicken nanban. My husband had the Sushi&Sashimi for one. My husband helped me with the dishes I ordered, and the dishes were not too small, but well-sized for sharing, and we finished all of the non-sushi dishes with no leftovers. I would say that the Chicken Nanban was similar to the chicken kaarage, so I wouldn't recommend getting both on the same night. Every dish was great. My husband enjoyed his sushi (but wasn't a big fan of the sashimi), and did save his roll for the next day. We also ordered dessert- bread pudding and lemon tart, both delicious. Our server was attentive and checked on us often, which was appreciated. We learned a cool fact that this place used to be a nightclub-Biltmore Ballroom, hence the B B on the windows. ”
“ I was delightfully surprised by the quality of the sushi and sashimi here! I'm always suspicious of non-sushi restaurants that serve sushi, but Perry's did not disappoint! The standout dish of the evening was the udon carbonara, a must-try! This dish went really well with the mushrooms. Wine list wasn't amazing, so points off there. However, I was very impressed with the culinary aspect of the experience. ”
